Enabling children to flourish and succeed

Pupil Premium

Pupil premium funding is a grant provided by the government to schools in England to improve the educational outcomes of disadvantaged pupils. This funding is allocated based on the number of pupils who are eligible for free school meals, have been eligible in the past six years, or are looked after by the local authority.

At St Mary's C of E Primary School, the pupil premium funding is used to support eligible children in various ways. The school has a comprehensive strategy to ensure that the funding is effectively utilised to improve the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. This is outlined in our Pupil Premium statement.

The school employs several approaches to support eligible children, including:

  • Providing targeted academic support to help pupils achieve age-related expectations.
  • Offering a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to meet individual needs.
  • Implementing interventions to accelerate progress and close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.

Additionally, the school focuses on enhancing the overall well-being of pupils by providing personal curriculum development opportunities and fostering a positive learning environment. This holistic approach ensures that all children, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
