E-Safety
The internet is now a part of everyday life in and out of school. Teaching our children how to be safe online, is just as important as road safety or stranger danger.
At St Mary's we focus on the following aspects of online information.
- Self image and identity
- Online relationships
- Online reputation
- Online bullying
- Managing online information
- Health, wellbeing and lifestyle
- Privacy and security
- Copyright and ownership
You can find further guidance on keeping children safe online from the following organisations and websites:
- UK Safer Internet Centre: https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/advice-centre/parents-and-carers/what-are-issues
- Parents and carers - Childnet has a huge wealth of information for parents and carers
Thinkuknow - home has age appropriate videos you can watch together to use as a talking point.
Always be careful when you are using the internet. It can help you to keep in touch with your friends and help your education – but it can also cause harm – to you and to others.
Remember help is always available at school if you are having any problems online.
Don’t be afraid to talk to your teacher or another adult at school.
