Attendance
Introduction
Attending school at St Mary’s Primary School is crucial for children’s overall development and future success. Regular attendance ensures that students benefit from a well-rounded education, encompassing academic learning, social skills, and emotional growth. At St Mary’s, children are provided with a supportive and stimulating environment where they can explore their interests, develop critical thinking skills, and build lasting friendships. Consistent attendance helps establish a routine, fostering discipline and a sense of responsibility. Moreover, being part of the school community allows children to engage in various extracurricular activities, enhancing their talents and boosting their confidence. Ultimately, attending St Mary’s Primary School equips children with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to thrive both academically and personally.
St. Mary's C of E Primary School promotes the view that regular attendance is important to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for children. It is the responsibility of the whole school community to ensure good attendance. Persistent absence is defined as absence below 90%.
It is concerning to us if a child's attendance is below 95%, the Trusts Attendance Officer will therefore monitor attendance below 95%.
As a school we are committed to:
- Improving the attendance of our pupils
- Improving the punctuality of pupils
- Raising levels of achievement
- Maximising opportunities for children in school
