Dear parents, carers and children,

Welcome to our Year 2 class page. 

Your child should have a reading book and reading record to take home

each day. We will aim to swap them as required and please let me know if a book change is overdue.

I would appreciate your support with regular reading at home and would expect that all children read for at least 10 minutes, 5 times per week. Please sign your child's reading record - every signature counts towards reading certificates. This will also greatly help with their ability to access all areas of the St Mary's curriculum.

We teach spelling patterns in school and will send home spelling lists that will match the words we cover in class. However we will not test the children.

Our PE days in year 2 will be on Mondays and Fridays; on these days, your child should bring in their PE kit (green PE T-shirt, black shorts/leggings/jogging bottoms and green school jumper/cardigan/fleece) in a bag. Please ensure that trainers, shoes and bags are all labelled to avoid any mix-ups!

For safeguarding reasons, the gates to the KS1 playground will remain closed until the end of the school day – please wait by the gate and enter the playground to collect your child once they are opened by a member of staff.

If you have any questions or concerns, please catch one of us in the play ground at the start or end of the school day – or leave a message for one of us to contact you if that is preferred.
