Staff Across Leicestershire and South Derbyshire Schools Come Together for Pride

Rise Multi Academy Trust, a network of 26 schools across Leicestershire and South Derbyshire, has celebrated Pride Month with a series of inclusive and creative staff wellbeing events designed to promote diversity, connection and community across its schools.

Across our schools, inclusion, diversity and belonging are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to ensuring every pupil and member of staff feels valued, supported and empowered to flourish and succeed in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.

To celebrate Pride Month, colleagues from across our 26 schools were invited to take part in a range of creative craft sessions held at locations across Leicestershire and South Derbyshire. The events brought together staff from different schools, encouraging connection, collaboration and wellbeing outside of their day-to-day roles.

Activities included rock decorating, friendship bracelet making and glass art crafting, providing opportunities for staff to relax, unwind and engage in creative expression in a supportive setting.

Sessions were open to all staff across the Trust, including teaching staff, support staff and senior leaders, reflecting the organisation’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity across all roles.

These county-wide events enabled colleagues from different schools to meet, share experiences and celebrate Pride Month together, strengthening relationships across the wider Trust community.

Laura Oakes, Headteacher at St Mary's CofE Primary School, said:

"It was truly lovely to host the recent Rise craft event at St Mary's. The session provided a wonderful opportunity for colleagues from across our schools to spend time together in a relaxed and creative environment, enjoying activities such as bracelet making, rock painting and glass painting. There was a real sense of community as staff connected with one another in a way that isn't always possible during the busy school day. Many colleagues commented on how much they valued the opportunity to come together socially, away from their day-to-day responsibilities, and simply enjoy each other's company. We were particularly pleased that the event was open to everyone, helping to create a genuinely inclusive atmosphere where all felt welcome. It was a joyful and uplifting occasion, and a reminder of how important it is to make time to support staff wellbeing, build connections and celebrate the diversity across our schools."

Rise Multi Academy Trust would like to extend its sincere thanks to the teams at The Three Trees Academies and St Mary's CofE Primary School for generously hosting these fantastic events. Their support, hospitality and commitment helped create welcoming spaces where colleagues from across the Trust could come together, connect and celebrate Pride Month.

These events reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting staff wellbeing, celebrating diversity and ensuring our schools are places where everyone feels included, respected and able to thrive.
